Faculty Handbook

Message from Kathryn Rummell

It is a pleasure to welcome all new and returning faculty to Cal Poly. The Academic Personnel Office looks forward to working with you toward the mutual goal of providing an outstanding educational experience for our students.

We recognize that a positive working environment is critical in meeting this goal. Cal Poly offers many programs and policies which address the work environment. Many of these have emanated from recommendations by the Academic Senate, provisions of the collective bargaining contract, as well as Federal and State regulations. The Faculty Handbook summarizes these policies and references other sources where additional information may be obtained.

Questions regarding information contained in this handbook should be directed to the office of Academic Personnel (academicpersonnel@calpoly.edu) or Kathryn Rummell (krummell@calpoly.edu). In the event of conflict between information in the handbook and the collective bargaining agreement, the latter will prevail.

Members of the Academic Personnel staff welcome the opportunity to assist you.

Kathryn Rummell
Associate Vice Provost for Academic Personnel

Cluster Hire

Cal Poly strongly values diversity and inclusion, especially in the classroom and among its areas of study. To promote inclusive teaching strategies across the university and increase curricular coverage of areas related to diversity and inclusion, a university-wide cluster of tenure-track faculty search was launched.
